Excursion : Australia’s Political and Economic Landscape

The Year 10 Civics and Citizenship students embarked on a class excursion to Parliament and the Old Treasury building. It offered us an enriching exploration of Australia’s political and economic landscape. Inside Parliament House, we all witnessed democracy in action as we explored the lower and upper house and learnt about Victoria’s history and governance structure. We were immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the chambers where laws are crafted, and decisions are made. In addition, the class was fortunate enough to meet the member for Warrandyte, Nicole Werner. She spoke to us about her journey into politics and the work she is doing to help our community and Victoria to become a better place. Transitioning to the Old Treasury Building, we all delved into the country’s economic history through captivating exhibits. Uncovering tales of financial triumphs and challenges, gaining insights into fiscal policies and wealth management practises. This hands-on experience not only deepened all of our understanding of Australia’s history but inspired critical thinking about its present economic dynamics and prospects.
