Following a successful involvement with Whitefriars in 2023, Mr Sherlock and Miss Ciavarella, alongside eight Year 10 boys, again visited Currawong Bush Park to teach primary school students about recycling, reusing household items, and reducing waste as part of the 2024 Lead to Sustain Festival – hosted by Manningham Council.

Mr Sherlock and Miss Ciavarella worked with multiple groups of local primary school students, discussing the importance of waste reduction, how photosynthesis occurs and sustainability everyone can enact at home; whilst the Year 10 boys helped the students to create their very own recycled newspaper pot, complete with planted sunflower seeds.

It was a fabulous day weather-wise, the primary school students all learnt a great deal and even got to take their sunflower pot back to school for further investigation.
