Victoria’s leading legal graduates for 2023 have been honoured with the Supreme Court Prize.

The Prize, which was first awarded in 1864, recognises the highest performing student at each of Victoria’s eight law schools. Five Exhibition Prizes for the best honours thesis were also awarded including Old Collegian, Harrison Cant (Class of 2018).

The winners received their awards at a ceremony held in the Supreme Court Library on 10 July 2024.

The winners were announced by Justice Mark Moshinsky from the Federal Court of Australia, and were presented with their awards by Chief Justice Anne Ferguson.

Justice Moshinsky , who is also a former Supreme Court Prize recipient, commented on the recipients’ achievements.

“I would like to congratulate each of the Supreme Court Prize and Exhibition Prize winners; it is a tremendous achievement,” his Honour said. “It could not have been obtained without great legal ability, as well as perseverance and motivation over a long period of time.

“Each of the recipients should feel proud of their achievement; it is a fitting recognition of their hard work and ability.”

The Chief Justice also extended her congratulations to the graduates.

“All of the winners, and all of their families should be very proud of this achievement; it is outstanding.”
