Victorian All Schools Cross Country

On Saturday the Whitefriars Cross Country team, under the direction and coaching of Gavin Kellar competed at Bundoora Park in the annual Victorian All School Cross Country Championships.

Our boys were terrific, running in extremely challenging conditions. Despite the rain, cold, wind and extremely muddy track, our 31 competing athletes were able to achieve some fantastic times.

Our biggest achievement for the day was Cam Ellis finishing in 8th place after running his 6km race in a time of 20 minutes and 10 seconds in the U18 event. This time has now qualified Cam to represent the Victorian Schools Cross Country team at the National Championships later this year in Tasmania.

Other top 20 finishers were: Max Andison of Year 8 finishing in 19th place in the U15 4km event with a time of 14 minutes and 46 seconds.

Joel Imbriano of Year 12 also finishing also finishing in 19th place. He competed in the U20 race running 8kms in a time of 28 minutes and 34 seconds.

Our best combined team results were: Our 14s – 5th, U15s – 5th, U17s – 6th, U20s – 4th.

Well done.
